Access 64-bit Flowheater 32-bit? was created by Gerhard Samstag
Hello Robert,
on my production-server i have following components installed:
Windows Server 2016 64-bit
Access 2019 MSO 16.0.10350 64-bit
FlowHeater 4.1.7 64-bit
Now when I start a Export-Definition (Access to csv, I created with win10), the message comes up:
Please use 32-bit FlowHeater
What can I do, to use the correct 64-bit FlowHeater?
Many regards
Gerhard

Hi Gerhard,
I guess you would like to export the old MDB Access database format with the Access Adapter ? In this case, only the FlowHeater 32 Bit Version is able to do this. This depends on the old Access JET database format.
Note: It would be possible to install and use both (32 bit | 64 bit) FlowHeater version in parallel. The latest installed version is the default version and is used in case you double click a FlowHeater Definition file (.FHD).

Hi Robert,
thanks for the info, but....
In my understanding, I would like to export the ACCDB database, which is based on the new JET engine.
On my Win10-PC, but with Access for Office 365 MSO v16.0.12527, everything also 64-bit, it works smoothly.
Many regards
Gerhard

Hi Gerhard,
Ok, I see. Sorry for this question You´re sure whether Access is installed in the 64-Bit Office version on your Windows 2016 Server?
Usually the error appears in case the wrong MS Access version (32-bit / 64-bit) or Access isn´t installed. May I ask you to verify this, Thanks.
In case Access is not installed on your server, you just have to install the “ Microsoft Database Access Engine ” 64-bit driver. No Access license will be required.

Hi Gerhard,
I´ve made some more tests and I discovered out that the Office/Access 2019 installation doesn´t install the needed “Microsoft Database Engine”. I´m afraid but currently there is no way to install this afterwards.
Workaround/Solution
I´ve made some more tests and I discovered out that the Office/Access 2019 installation doesn´t install the needed “Microsoft Database Engine”. I´m afraid but currently there is no way to install this afterwards.
Workaround/Solution
- It would be possible to export your Access Database with the installed Access ODBC database driver. In this case, you have to use the
ODBC Adapter
instead.
- If you want to use the Access Adapter , you have to uninstall Office first, install the 64 Bit “ Microsoft Database Access 2016 Engine ” and afterwards reinstall Office 2019 again.

Hi Robert,
thanks for your investigation.
You are sure that it is not possible to install the "Microsoft Database Access 2016 Engine" afterwards?
Many regards

Hi Gerhard,
I´m afraid yes. On my test server the setup runs into an error and tells me that the installation isn´t possible because access has been already installed.
The reason why is, the needed “Microsoft Database Access 2019 Engine” isn´t available until now.

Hi Gerhard,
Workaround without uninstallation MS Office/Access from your server. In the current FlowHeater Beta version (4.1.8.1 Beta1) the Access Adapter supports an ODBC fallback in case no other MS Access database driver (JET/ACE) are available onto the system. Please find the beta version download links below.
Limitation) if you want to use this feature you have to use the FlowHeater 32 Bit version instead.
